One of the titles in a series of maps showing the regions around New Zealand’s main cities. Each title has three maps: a road map of the surrounding region, a more detailed map of the suburbs and environs, plus a street plan of the city centre. The regional maps are indexed and show the road network with unsurfaced roads and tracks. Symbols indicate information centres, campsites, numerous sport and recreational facilities (bush walking, mountain biking, caving, horse riding, surfing, paragliding, fishing, kayaking and canoeing, etc.), wineries, places of interest, etc. The maps have relief shading to indicate the topography, with national parks, conservation areas and reserves, marine parks all highlighted. The maps are overprinted with the New Zealand Map Grid. Suburban maps, also indexed, show suburb names with selected main roads and streets also named. Street plans of city centres have lists of places of interest and selected accommodation.
In this title: a road map at 1:350,000 showing the region around Christchurch, extending north to Kalkorua, plus west and south to Ashburton. The map of the city’s suburbs and environs at 1:100,000 extends north to Waikuku Beach and Saltwater Creek, west to Rolleston, and south to the Canterbury Bight. The street plan of the city centre is at 1:15,000.
