Details
One of the titles in a series of touring and trekking maps of Chile and the neighbouring regions of Argentina. The main map depicts a section of central Chile, between Temucu in the south and Curico at the north. No scale is stated, but it is estimated at approximately 1:500,000. Altitude tinting gives a good impression of the general relief and many spot heights are given for peaks, although no values are given for the contour lines. Road network shows paved and unpaved roads and selected tracks, with locations of petrol stations and border crossings to Argentina, plus driving distances on many routes. Additional details include symbols for locations with national parks and protected areas, hot springs, waterfalls, selected accommodation, etc. Latitude and longitude margin ticks are at intervals of 30’. Map legend includes English.
On the reverse side are four maps at scales ranging from 1:50,000 to 1:70,000 showing popular trekking areas in greater detail. These maps include additional details, e.g. estimated trekking times and distances on hiking routes, campsites, and refuges. Latitude and longitude marks are at 1' intervals. The areas covered by these enlargements are: Volcan Antuco and environs in the Parque Nacional Laguna Laja, Laguna Conguillio and adjacent glaciers in the P.N. Conguillio Los Paraguas, the Thermas de Chillan area near Volcan Chillan, and a small part of the P.N. Nahuelbuta near Cerro Piedra del Aguila.
