Details
One of the titles in a series of maps of Australian cities and their environs, with each title combining a selection of maps: the central area, the suburbs, and the wider environs. The map of the central part, more diagrammatic in style than found in most tourist street plans, shows one way streets and main buildings, with its short index listing some accommodation and main places of interest. The map of the city with its suburbs has an index listing all the suburbs, while the maps of the environs have indexes of the localities and highlight places of interest. No geographical coordinates are shown on the maps. Also included are diagrams of highway connections to Australia’s other main cities.
In this title: central Adelaide (no scale given) plus the suburbs at approx. 1:65,000. The map of the region at approx. 1:385,000 extends eastwards to cover Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert, with McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley shown in greater detail on enlargements, both with lists of wineries. Kangaroo Island is shown as an inset at approx. 715,000. The diagrams show Adelaide’s connections with Sydney via the Sturt/Hume Highways, Melbourne along the Western/Dukes Highways and Princes Highway, and Perth via the Eyre/Great Eastern Highways.
