One of the titles in a series of touring and trekking maps of Chile and the neighbouring regions of Argentina. The main map at 1:250,000 shows the Chile/Argentina border area from Lake Colico, north of Villarrica and Pucon, to Cordon de Caulle glacier in Chile and Lake Traful in the Nahuel Huapi National Park in Argentina in the south. West - east coverage is from Loncoche and Lago Ranco in Chile to San Martín de los Andes and Junin de los Andes in Argentina. The area includes some of South America’s most impressive volcanoes: Villarrica, Quetrupillan, Lanin, and Mocho. Topography is shown by contours (no values are indicated), with numerous spot heights and names of mountain ranges. Overprint indicates accommodation including campsites, border crossings, petrol stations, places of interest, etc. The map has latitude/longitude margin ticks at intervals of 15’, although in some cases more careful proof reading would have been useful. Map legend includes English.
On the reverse an enlargement at 1:80,000 shows the northen part of the Chilean side: from Pucon to Curarrehue and from lakes Colico and Caburgua, north of Pucon, to beyond the volcanoes of Villarrica and Quetrupillan. Contours are at 50m intervals, with bold altitude colouring. Additional overprint highlights trekking and horse riding routes, particularly around the two volcanoes, indicating hiking times. Margin ticks are at 1’ intervals.
