One of the titles in a series of maps of Australian cities and their environs, with each title combining a selection of maps: the central area, the suburbs, and the wider environs. The map of the central part, more diagrammatic in style than found in most tourist street plans, shows one way streets and main buildings, with its short index listing some accommodation and main places of interest. The map of the city with its suburbs has an index listing all the suburbs, while the maps of the environs have indexes of the localities and highlight places of interest. No geographical coordinates are shown on the maps. Also included are diagrams of highway connections to Australia’s other main cities.
In this title: central Melbourne at approx. 1:17,850, with the suburbs at approx. 1:100,000. Also included is a map of the Citylink, the expressway joining three of the city’s major freeways. The map of the Melbourne region at approx 1:500,000 is supplemented by two enlargements of the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula, both with lists of the wineries. The diagrams show Melbourne’s connections with Sydney via the Princes Highway and via the Hume Highway, Brisbane via the Hume/Newell/Gore/Warrego Highways, and Adelaide vie the Western/Duke Highways.
