Durable, laminated tourist map with street plan of central Reykjavík and tourist information - one of the many handy-sized Flexi Maps by this publisher, impressive for the amount of information packed in a small format. On the main map hill-shading shows the general relief, with selected peak heights and spot heights marked. Larger national parks and protected areas are shown. Road detail includes intermediate road distances on main routes, and airports and major sea connections are marked. Unfortunately, the legend provides no road classification information. However an extensive range of symbols denotes points of interest, antiquities, cultural and historical landmarks, natural curiosities, reserves, recreational sites, etc. No latitude and longitude lines are marked.
On the reverse is a street plan of central Reykjavík at 1:12,500, showing such features as places of interest, information centres, car parks, churches, major hotels, notable buildings, post offices etc. There is also a road map at 1:350,000 of the wider region around Reykjavík, suitable for day excursions from the capital. It reaches out to Gulfoss waterfall in the east, Hella in the south, the tip of the Reykjanes peninsula in the west and Akranes in the north. The maps are indexed for towns, districts, streets and places of interest as appropriate for the scale and level of detail, and throughout the coverage 29 major attractions are highlighted and provided with brief descriptions. Some general notes for tourists are also included e.g. public transport matters, money, telecommunications, climate & tourist information resources.
