Details
One of the titles in a series of touring and trekking maps of Chile and the neighbouring regions of Argentina. In this title the main map shows the Altiplano region at 1:1,000,000, from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile to La Paz. From coast the map extends eastwards to include Cochabamba in Bolivia. Relief is indicated by contours at 1000ft intervals, altitude tinting and spot heights of selected peaks. The salt lakes of the region are marked and many geographical features are identified, e.g. hills, lakes, coastal points. Roads are classified either as paved or unpaved, but hardly any driving distances are indicated. Local railway lines are also marked. Latitude and longitude margin ticks are at 1º intervals.
On the reverse is a more detailed map at 1:450,000 of the frontier section between Salar de Coipasa and Nevado Sajama. Additional details include campsites, ranger stations and hot springs. An enlargement at 1:53,000 shows the trekking routes between Parinacota and Lago Chungara in the Parque Nacional Lauca in Chile. Map legend is in English and Spanish.
