Details
Changing front lines, trenches, war memories and cemeteries, museums, etc. of WWI’s Southern Front in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Gulia and the adjoining part of Slovenia, extending Stanford’s excellent coverage of the Western Front.
The map covers an area between Pordenone and Trieste/Kranjska Gora, and north to the Gail valley on Austria. The two tone base map has very effective relief shading with names of mountain ranges, valleys and peaks, derived from Tobacco’s excellent hiking series for the Dolomites and north-eastern Italy.
The overprint shows the 1915 border and nine different courses of the front line. Symbols, cross-referenced to lists on the reverse side of the map, show locations of remains of trench lines which can visited, memorial and cemeteries, monuments and museums, forts and historical buildings, and information points.
On the reverse there are also lists of local offices of the Military History Cultural Associations with contact details and website addresses. Map legend and all other text include English.
