Durable, laminated, double-sided map with tourist information and street plans - one of the many handy-sized Flexi Maps by this publisher, impressive for the amount of information packed in a small format. Rather than showing the whole group on one map, here they are presented on four sub-regional maps at 1:90,000 - Virgin Gorda and Tortola, Anegada, St. Thomas and St. John, and St. Croix. Subtle hill-shading gives an impression of the general relief, with selected peak heights indicated. Mangrove swamps and reefs are also marked, and reserves, marine parks and national parks are indicated. Road detail includes some tracks, some main road names are stated, and intermediate driving distances are stated on main routes. Major sea ferry connections are marked. Many bays on the main and surrounding smaller islands are named, and symbols denote landmarks and tourism features, eg. airports, beaches, various watersport/recreation sites, points of interest, visitor centres, campsites, hotels, golf courses, viewpoints, etc. No latitude and longitude lines are marked.
There are several small inset maps at 1:17,000 showing street plans of Road Town, Spanish Town, Charlotte Amalie, Cruz Bay, Christiansted and Frederiksted. Detail on these includes car parks, petrol stations, notable buildings, shopping centres, hotels, churches, information centres, landmarks, museums, post offices, sites of interest.
The maps are indexed for islands, towns, points of interest, streets, hotels, and public buildings, as appropriate for the scale and level of detail. Throughout the coverage 10 major attractions are highlighted and provided with brief descriptions. Some general notes for tourists are also included e.g. public transport matters, money, health, telecommunications, climate & tourist information resources.
