Spiral, compact A5-size, indexed road atlas of New Zealand, with enlargements for environs of main towns and street plans of town centres. The main section of the atlas at 1:1,000,000 shows the country’s road network, indicating unsurfaced roads and sections of highways which may be closed in winter. Railway lines, ferry routes, local airfields and airstrips are shown. National Parks and protected areas are highlighted. Selected waking tracks and skiing areas are also marked. Topography is shown by names of mountain ranges with spot heights and colouring for protected areas. No geographical coordinates are provided.
More detailed mapping at 1:275,000 or 1:175,000 covers Northland, Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin districts. Street plans are provided for nine town centres, showing one way streets, parking facilities, public toilets and places of interest. The index has separate lists of cities/towns/localities and rural features (mountain and passes, coastal and water features, ski fields/tracks/parks/forests) plus street names on the city plans. Also included is a distance table.
