A4 format, paperback atlas with additional maps of selected popular tourist region, 20 street plans and introductory pages on general geography of the 16 countries wholly or partially covered by it. The road mapping is presented on 108 pages at 1:1,500,000 covering Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and all countries to the south including the southern third of the Democratic Rep. of Congo.

An impression of the general relief is given by altitude tinting, with some peak heights marked and additional graphics distinguishing marshes and pans. Bold colours indicate national parks and protected areas. Road classification shows freeways, main roads, secondary roads, 4WD trails and selected tracks. Toll routes are shown, also high passes and intermediate road distances on main routes. Main railways and international and provincial boundaries are marked and symbols denote a range of tourism features and landmarks e.g. campsites, oases, border control points, airports, major ferries, viewpoints, waterfalls, battlefields, historical and heritage sites and other places of interest. Latitude and longitude values are stated for the map corners. A distance chart is included and the atlas is indexed.
The tourism area maps are at a variety of larger scales and provide more detail for the following regions: Cape Peninsula, Kruger NP and Loweveld, KwaZulu-Natal coast, Okavango and Chobe, South Luangwa NP, Victoria Falls and Livingstone. The street maps plans are not indexed, but are clearly drawn and indicate useful features e.g. one-way streets, railways, post offices, hospitals, airports, tourist information offices and places of interest. The thematic overview maps in the introductory pages show the political and physical geography of the region, plus climate and vegetation variations. There is also a page of general information and facts for each of 16 countries in the region.
