Handy-sized durable, laminated tourist map with street plans and tourist information. On the main map hill-shading shows the general relief, with selected peak heights marked. Road detail includes intermediate road distances on main routes, and railways, major airports and major sea connections are marked. Unfortunately, the legend provides no road classification information. However, an extensive range of symbols denotes points of interest, antiquities, cultural and historical landmarks, natural curiosities, reserves, nature parks, Indian reservations, volcanoes, recreational sites, etc. No latitude and longitude lines are marked. Internal administrative boundaries shown, and larger national parks are marked. The main map shows most of the country, with the eastern region shown on the reverse at the same scale.
Also on the reverse are street plans of central Quito and Cuenca 1:15,000. These show such features as trolley bus lines ((Quito), places of interest, information centres, churches, hotels, notable buildings, embassies, post offices, etc. There is also a 1:1,400,000 map of the Galapagos Islands. The maps (except Galapagos) are indexed for towns, places of interest, districts, streets and hotels as appropriate for the scale and level of detail, and throughout the coverage 23 major attractions are highlighted and provided with brief descriptions. Some general notes for tourists are also included, eg. public transport matters, money, telecommunications, climate & tourist information resources. The map legend is in English only.
