One of the titles in a series of maps covering Kenya’s national parks and nature reserves with cartography based on the country’s topographic survey. Most titles include additional tourist information, indicating entry gates and orienteering signposts within the parks, lodges and other accommodation facilities, etc. Many maps have drawings and list of main animals commonly found in the park. In this title: excellent detailed map, with contours at 100m intervals and vivid relif shading clearly presenting the topography of the park, particularly its craters and escarpments. Lava fieds and rock outcrops are marked, as well as cliffs, steep slopes, marshes, bogs, tree swaps, seasonal swaps, lakes and waterfalls, etc. The map indicates different types of vegetation: bamboo, forest, scrub. Various facilities, both within the park and in the adjoining area are shown: forest guard posts, dispensaries and hospitals, campsites, etc. Both latitude/longitude at intervals of 5' and a UTM grid are shown in the margins. Map legend is in English only. On the reverse there is a general introduction to the Rift Valley, the Aberdares NP, and Lake Nakuru NP and some useful addresses in English, French and German, plus charts giving details of monthly rainfall and sunshine for various locations on the map.
