Details
One of the titles in a series of touring and trekking maps of Chile and the neighbouring regions of Argentina. The main map at approx. 1:1,250,000 covers southern Patagonia, south of El Chaltén, on both sides of the border. Relief is shown by altitude tinting and spot heights of selected peaks. Glaciers are highlighted and many geographical features are identified, e.g. bays, capes, hills. Roads are classified either as paved or unpaved, and railways, airports and main sea routes are also marked. Other details include symbols for national parks, sites of interest, custom points, panoramic viewpoints and petrol stations. A table shows road distances and indicates services available at the various locations e.g. fuel and repair facilities, campsites, etc. Latitude and longitude margin ticks are at 1º intervals. Map legend includes English.
On the reverse is a general map at approx 1:3,000,000 showing more of Patagonia, extending north to just beyond Puerto Montt, San Carlos Bariloche and Lago Nahuel Huapi, and Peninsula Valdes. This also shows physical relief and significant geographical features, main roads, and provincial boundaries. Enlargements show the area around Punta Arenas and Peninula Exmouth in greater detail.
