Details
One of the titles in a series of indexed touring maps, double-sided to show each state at a good scale on a handy size sheet. The maps present the road network from main highways, indicating their names, to minor unsurfaced roads and tracks, plus the country’s railways. Symbols highlight roadside rest areas, fuels supplies in the outback, as well as campsites, places of interest, etc. Topography is indicated by names of mountain ranges and selected peaks, with national parks, reserves and protected areas, aboriginal lands, and World Heritage sites highlighted. The maps have a latitude/longitude grid at intervals varying from 30’ to 2º. Each title has an index of towns and communities and a distance table. Some also include street plans - for more information see individual descriptions.
In this title: the whole of the island is shown on one side of the map. Enlargements show the environs of Hobart and Launceston in greater detail and the map also includes indexed street plans of these towns highlighting places of interest and accommodation, plus plans of the centres of Davenport and Burnie. Latitude/longitude grid is at 30’ intervals.
