Double-side map with photos, diagrams, and history of the canal. On one side the map shows the whole length of the canal from ocean to ocean, with the main shipping channel clearly marked and the surrounding lakes, bays, rivers, railways and highways identified and annotated with text and photos to highlight various features and aspects. Above the map there is a detailed history of the canal, from the earliest times to the French misadventure and the final success of the American construction project. On the reverse a simplified 3-D diagram explains how the canal works, annotated with more photographs and information panels about the canal and Panama.
