Salzkammergut, Chiemgau and Tyrol. These three regions along the Austrian-German border dazzle with stunning landscapes, verdant Alpine pastures, meadows filled with wildflowers, crisp clean air and refreshing lakes. They are also popular vacation destinations and have an abundance of small roads perfect for bicycling. The lively city of Salzburg, hometown to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, offers an outstanding base from which to explore these regions. The Mozart Bicycle Trail connects Salzburg with the three famous regions and leads to many of the places that figured in the life of the 18th century musical genius: St. Gilgen on the Wolfgangssee, the Chiemsee, Waging and Wasserburg on the river Inn, to name just a few of the places where Mozart spent time.
