There are many maps of Mani. In fact some have a much more detailed scale than the ROAD map of Mani. Therefore, in theory, they should include more roads and provide more information. But that is not so. The just published ROAD map of Mani features many more roads! All the footpaths! And dozens of valuable pieces of information presented for the first time on a map of Mani! The field research for the cartographical work began in June 2003 and was completed in October 2003, while electronic processing was completed in November 2003. Thus, it is the most updated map available of Mani. You will see all the recent surfacing of roads that other maps continue to depict as unsurfaced roads.
The most important thing is that you will see all the roads in the area, even surfaced roads that do not appear (!) on other maps, or major negotiable unsurfaced roads joining areas, also missing from other maps and, therefore, forcing you to take the long way when you could have easily and quickly moved from one area to another.
The ROAD map of Mani is the only map with contour lines at 20m intervals on a bold coloured geophysical background provided by the Hellenic Military Geographic Service, on which all the major footpaths of the region have been precisely marked by experienced Trekking Hellas and ROAD climbers.
The ROAD map of Mani contains, however, many more major exclusive features. It is the only map setting out the beaches with their names, so you are aware of the parts of the coast along which you can swim. It is the only map showing the administrative boundaries of the Kapodistrian Municipalities, so that you are aware which village belongs what municipality. The old name of the villages is provided in parentheses as, in many cases, these are the names which are still in use by the locals. The locations of launching ramps for boat trailers, so that you are aware of the points from which you can launch your boat into the sea. It has aggregate (total) distances in kilometres, allowing calculation of distances at a glance.
The ten best hotels and guest houses are marked with a special symbol on the ROAD map of Mani, a ROAD decision based on the criterion of quality and not prompted by advertising purposes, as with all its travel guides. We also present all the camping sites in the area, with their names and the area they cover.
The ROAD map of Mani is provided with a removable hard cover, in case a flexible version is more convenient for folding so as to fit into tank bags or your pocket, without leaving your map coverless, as a second cover has been printed on the map itself!
