We love all our maps, but we certainly have a soft spot for this one! While it is neither the most commercial title nor the preferred destination of tourists, we invested considerable time and money to map Lesvos as no cartographer has done to date, literally sweepingly!
To this date, no other map of Lesvos can be compared in any way to this ROAD map.
We mapped the island's entire road network, including even insignificant, difficult to navigate unsurfaced roads and highlighted all scenic routes in green, to make sure you go straight to the nice places. We marked the locations of all the beaches with their names and, of course, all the places to see on the island (the fossil forest, monasteries, castles, archaeological sites, early Christian basilicas, the natural spas and much more). We marked the entire network of footpaths on Olympos, the island's most beautiful mountain above Plomari , a veritable walker's paradise , that has been maintained by the Municipality of Plomari that also provided for the signage.
All this on a precision geophysical background provided by the Hellenic Military Geographic Service, with contour lines at 100m intervals and a very rich hydrography. We provide basic information, written in layman's terms, regarding the history of the island, the important persons that were born here, and the natural environment, local architecture, local products, hot springs and the beaches.
On the back of the map, which is also in colour, there is an enormous, updated, clear and easy to read map of Mytilini with loads of information (even the good taverns and cafes!). There is also a complete listing of the accommodations available on the island, information on all the museums, a list of the travel bureaus, information on the local boat schedules and a list of useful telephone numbers.
