Detailed A2-size map with contour lines are drawn at 10m intervals and several different types of vegetation and terrain shown: seven different kinds of fynbos, marshes, forests, and thickets. Areas with restricted access are marked, and the road network includes private roads with or without public access, signposts, parking areas, etc. Footpaths are clearly shown, including dangerous or restricted access sections. Extensive overprint highlights other places of interest, picnic areas, restaurants, recreational facilities, etc. UTM grid lines are drawn on the map at 200m intervals with latitude/longitude ticks at 1’ intervals.
An inset extends the coverage northwards to include Bonteberg and Scarborough. On the reverse are brief descriptions of 14 hiking routes, a general introduction to the Cape Point area with notes on the flora and fauna (including drawings of main plants and footprints of animals), marine life, and shipwrecks. There is also a diagram of the view across False Bay from the Smitswinkel viewpoint, safety advice, and some emergency phone numbers. Map legend is in English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa. The map was researched and drawn by Peter Slingsby - renowned environmental educator and cartographer.
