New York in a series of waterproof and tear-resistant, pocket street maps with their handy 10x10cm format cleverly concealing a collection of plans and road maps, plus a wealth of tourist information.
On one side is a street plan of most of Manhattan at 1:25,000 approx., extending to cover virtually all of the Central Park, with downtown Brooklyn. Enlargements at 1:12,500 cover the Midtown area and the Financial District. The plans show subway stations with line numbers and highlight various places on interest and selected hotels. The index lists only main streets but includes a list of Broadway theatres shown on the Midtown plan.
On the reverse is a plan of Manhattan with Brooklyn and Queens, extending out to the JFK airport and highlighting main road arteries across the boroughs. A small map shows a wider area around NYC for day trips. Also included is a diagram of the city’s subway network. Two illustrated panels have descriptions of main sites in the city, and further panels provide information on the city’s history and its main districts, listings of museums and galleries, historic places and other sights.

Each title contains a street plan of the city, enlargements and/or insets covering areas of particular tourist interest, brief descriptions of main sights and various districts, suggestions for day trips accompanied by road maps, a diagram of metro or other public transport network, plus extensive tourist information with public holidays and festivals, access to airports, climate chart, listings of main sites and places of interest, history, typical dishes, etc. All the text is in English.
