One of the titles in a series of touring maps with numerous street plans of local towns. The 1:300,000 maps show the mains state highways and major roads with their numbers or names, but minor roads and tracks are not particularly well defined. Railway network is also indicated. Topography is shown by subtle relief shading, with national and forest parks and other protected areas highlighted. Symbols show campsites and motor camps, numerous sport and recreational facilities, places of interest, etc. The maps are indexed but have no geographical coordinates. Each title includes notes on the area, its main festivals, events and attractions. On the reverse the maps have numerous street plans of local towns, highlighting facilities and places of interest, with brief notes on each location.
The 1:110,000 maps covering the environs of New Zealand’s three main cities have on one side an overview map with an index of suburbs and surrounding localities, and on the reverse an indexed street plan of the city. The maps also have lists of places of interest, accommodation, etc.
In this title: an indexed road map at 1:110,000 of the city’s suburbs and environs, extending north to beyond Ashley River and south to Canterbury Bight. On the reverse is an indexed street plan of the city at 1:20,000 and an enlargement for the central area, highlighting places of interest, shopping facilities, bus terminals, petrol stations, etc., plus notes on the main attractions, shopping, a list of accommodation, etc.
